James Halliday: Sourced from vineyards in McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Padthaway and Wrattonbully. Matured for 15 months in French (24% new) and American (12% new) hogsheads. An unambiguously good cabernet in the mainstream of Penfolds' vast knowledge of South Australia's hot (meaning good) spots for the variety. It's a polished, well-balanced expression, with winemaker Andrew Hales having made some lovely Coonawarra cabernets along the way. *Gold*
